The trip to Taipei, Taiwan was organised by the Institute of Information Industry (III), a non-governmental organisation, established through the joint efforts of the public and private sectors. The trip covered visits and discussions with several Taiwanese organisations and universities in the areas of technology.
The trip consisted of representatives from UNIMAS, and Kiwitech Sdn Bhd. To summarize the visit, Smart Lighting is confidently significant as one of the Smart City initiative and proven to reduce the cost up to 30% and has successfully sparked an interest in delegates from UNIMAS.
Smart Meter is one of the element that should be included in Smart City Initiatives and the delegation from UNIMAS are interested to pursue request if collaboration with MIGHT. Few technology solutions shall be proposed and be implemented in big cities of Sarawak such as Kuching, Miri and Sibu. Kiwitech is looking forward to create another strategic partnership with Sarawak State which focuses on Talent Development and Technology Transfer in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.
Visited OMA Lighting Visit
OMA Lighting presented its Smart LED Streetlight solution which offers sizeable energy and cost savings. The solution has been installed in several countries including Taiwan, United Kingdom and New Zealand. The solution has also been installed at the National Taiwan University (NTU).
China University of Technology and National Taiwan University Visit
From the trip to Taipei, the representatives visited China University of Technology. China University of Technology presented its Disaster Management Solution.
After that, the contingent visited National Taiwan University. The OMA Smart LED Streetlight solution has been installed at NTU and a demonstration of the solution was conducted by OMA, to highlight the Central Management System (CMS) of the solution. The CMS allows the administrator to manage individual light or group of lights such as on/off, light dimming functions.
Keelung City Visit
On the first of February, the contingent visited Keelung City, a port city north of Taiwan. Keelung City Government has introduced smart solutions for the city such as Smart Streetlight, Bus Wi-Fi and Beacon.
